Linea Verde visits Tuscany to tell Leonardo da Vinci’s story

Leonardo observes the tendrils that provide him with the ideal inspiration for the project of the “aerial vine”, a primitive flying machine, but he also studies grapes and their processing, as he indicates in the letter to the steward from 1515. The latter is a fundamental document from which we at Leonardo da Vinci Spa took our starting point to update the Genius’s reasoning and realise his insights, right up to creating a modern Leonardo Method® for the production of our wines. Linea Verde, the historic programme that has been telling the story of Italian agriculture for over half a century, chose precisely Villa da Vinci for the realisation of an episode entirely dedicated to the Genius and everything around him. The letter to the steward is indeed an important testimony from which Federico Quaranta and Professor Alessandro Vezzosi, among the foremost scholars of Leonardo and Director of the “Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci”, also took their starting point to dialogue on Leonardo, agriculture and oenology.

A profound connection Leonardo had with wine, which has its roots in the context in which he grew, as a person and culturally. Born indeed into a family of wine growers, nature, plants and in particular the vine were from the outset the starting point from which to develop ingenious ideas, including those on wine that we at Leonardo da Vinci Spa took up to realise our Leonardo Method®. It is an important journey, a project that is not only oenological but cultural, aimed at telling the story of the Genius and making everyone also know his more human side. The same purpose that drove Linea Verde in the realisation of this interesting episode, which aired on Rai1 gathering excellent ratings: 3 million and 201 thousand viewers with a 19.8% share.
