Merano Wine Festival in the name of Leonardo da Vinci

Among wine, tastings, and a dedication to Leonardo da Vinci, the 28th edition of the Merano Wine Festival, one of the most prestigious events in the European food and wine scene, took place from 9th to 12th November.

“Merano Wine Festival is a moment of sharing stories,” said Helmut Köcher, patron of the event and known as The Wine Hunter, “This year many of these stories revolve around the absolute genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. I studied his figure a lot this year, I read so many things. It is extraordinary that as early as 1500 he became interested in wine.”

With the motto “Excellence is an attitude”, Helmuth Köcher wanted to dedicate this 28th edition of the Genius of Leonardo da Vinci in his figure of an absolute forerunner of issues related to oenology and the search for excellence in the wine sector.

As a patron of Cantine Leonardo da Vinci, Köcher reserved us a special space in the heart of the event, the stage of the Kursaal del Kurhaus. In the most important room of the magnificent Art Nouveau building, on the stage of honour, next to a wooden reproduction of the Vitruvian Man made by a local artist, we at Cantine Leonardo da Vinci presented the two wines that stood out at annual competition that frames the Festival, winning the Red Wine Hunter Award – Sant’Ippolito and Linarius of the Villa da Vinci collection.

On the occasion of the Festival, the famous Letter to the Farmer was presented, in which Leonardo da Vinci gave precise instructions to his collaborator to produce excellent wines and by which we were inspired for the development of our Metodo Leonardo©.

The curiosity and interest that Leonardo’s eclecticism generates every time confirm his timeless Genius, able to amaze again and to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
