In Vinci, a new museum route dedicated to Leonardo

The agreement for the expansion of the museum circuit in the city of Vinci arises in the context of the celebrations for the five hundredth anniversary of Leonardo’s death, with the aim of honouring and making known his work precisely in the territories to which he owes his origins. On the occasion of the institutionalisation of the agreement, two important innovations will be announced, starting from 12 April 2019: the reopening of the “Museo Ideale Leonardo Da Vinci”, completely restructured, and the inauguration of the new “Museo Leonardo e il Rinascimento del Vino”, which will dialogue with the “Museo Leonardiano”, which includes the ancient and famous collection of models entirely dedicated to Leonardo’s work as scientist, technologist and engineer.
Three museum institutions, each with a different thematic interpretation, united by the will to valorise Leonardo’s great tradition.
The “Museo Ideale di Leonardo Da Vinci di arte, utopia e cultura della terra”, born as the first museum dedicated to the complexity of Leonardo as artist, scientist, inventor and designer and to the contemporary relevance of Leonardism, reopens to the public after nine years with exceptional new works, documents and artefacts.
It is precisely in this history-rich context that a new reality is born, the “Museo Leonardo e il Rinascimento del Vino”, to investigate Leonardo from a substantially unknown point of view: the authentic relationship of the genius with agriculture and territory, food and in particular wine: from historical tradition to the new Renaissance.

From 12 April 2019, in the two new venues the exhibition layout of an event exhibition with an emblematic title and exceptional content, “Leonardo vive”, will be set up, which will be included in the programme of the National Committee for the celebrations of the fifth centenary of Leonardo’s death
as well as the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci. The Origins of Genius”, presented in the “Museo Leonardiano”.
Thanks to the agreement between the Municipality of Vinci and Leonardo Da Vinci Spa, a proposal will be established, in addition to existing ticket types, of a single ticket covering the Museo Leonardiano and the two new museum venues.
The “Museo Leonardiano” is preparing the new ticket office in the heart of the historic centre; furthermore, a new electronic ticketing system will be activated, to facilitate online ticket purchase as well. The initiative as a whole, aimed at offering an immersive experience in Leonardo’s universe, confirms the city of Vinci as a fundamental destination for understanding the genius in his native land, also at an international level.
